Our Design Process

Our Unique Design Process
At Bates Landscaping, designing at the consultation stage is always our first step. We take pride in listening and understanding your unique needs, while being able to provide your dream landscape, and fit within your budget.
The Bates Difference comes from our unique approach to the design process. Every property is uniquely different and the creative process will always start at the discovery and meeting phase. First you will have a 1-1 conversation with the designer – at this point, Bates Landscaping will try to understand you, your needs, desires, and unique characteristics of your property.
Then an initial consultation at your property to discuss your ideal project and your budget. Then our Landscape Designer will take measurements and specific notes to be able to put ballparks together for the installation, and bring your reality to life!
1. Phone Consultation
An initial phone consultation with the designer is the first step to discovering your ideal project and budget.
Once you are happy with our preliminary budget and suggestions, we will move on to phase two.
2. Meeting
A consultation at your property to further discuss your ideal project and budget and ideas for your property.
Then our Landscape Designer will take measurements and specific notes to be able to put ballparks together for the Installation.
3. Approval
Upon approval of the ballpark and budget for your project, our Landscape Designer will collect a small design deposit to begin drafting ideas. All ideas and concepts are creatively made and customized to each individual property, so this initial deposit will be credited towards your final invoice.
4. Design
Our Landscape Designer will then conceptualize 2-3 computer detailed designs for your project. This will be accompanied by a material list and other specific recommendations.
Another meeting is held at the Client’s residence or at Bates Landscaping’s office to review the designs.
All final adjustments are made to ensure 100% client satisfaction with the designs. A final proposal is given to the Client for approval and impetimention.
5. Build
Everyone has their favorite part of the Process, but this phase is hands down our team’s favorite part! Our highly-skilled and safety trained professionals take much pride in seeing the final product and the happiness on a client’s face.
Our team pays the utmost attention to all the details that matter most and ensure that all the facets you discussed with the Designer are implemented correctly. Our goal overall is to ensure the construction process is pleasant, by providing a clean and safe environment.
6. Maintain
Apart from the design, the maintenance of your investment is the most important part! Regular upkeep of weeds, cutting back and fine pruning plant material, and regular mulching will extend the life of your landscape project.
