City Oasis
The customer had an outdated space that was unusable due to bamboo and old paving materials. With the upgrade and re-design, Bates proposed a courtyard style oasis for the backyard. The backyard, as with most Philadelphia backyards, only measured at about 18’ x 18’ roughly.

The customer had an outdated space that was unusable due to bamboo and old paving materials. With the upgrade and re-design, Bates proposed a courtyard style oasis for the backyard. The backyard, as with most Philadelphia backyards, only measured at about 18’ x 18’ roughly.
Bates Landscaping’s biggest obstacle was bringing in all the material through the homeowner’s beautiful home – bucket after bucket! Yes, we said it – WITH BUCKETS! No equipment, truck, or machine access.
The design repurposed granite pavers and then incorporated Techo Bloc’s line of Borealis, which is a trendy wood-like product to contrast the other material. As with our other thoughtful designs, we added seasonal plant material throughout and an area for the homeowners to grow herbs and vegetables.
